Waiting for your cards to come back from grading can feel like it takes forever. Here's what realistic turnaround times look like in 2026 so you can plan accordingly.
Most UK-based grading companies offer three or four service tiers. The typical breakdown:
Economy/Bulk: 20 to 30 working days. This is the cheapest option and best for large submissions where you're not in a rush. Working days means weekdays, so a 20-day turnaround is roughly a calendar month.
Standard: 10 to 20 working days. The most popular tier. Balances cost and speed well for most collectors.
Express: 5 to 10 working days. For when you need cards back quickly. Costs more per card but the faster turnaround can be worth it if you have a sale lined up or an event coming.
Rush/Same Week: 1 to 5 working days. Some companies offer this for an extra premium. Good if you need something graded urgently.
These timescales start from when the grading company receives and logs your submission, not from when you post it. Factor in a day or two for Royal Mail delivery and initial intake processing.
PSA turnaround times are quoted from when they receive the cards at their facility in the US. But from a UK collector's perspective, you also need to add:
Shipping to the US: 5 to 14 days depending on service
Customs processing (inbound): 1 to 5 days
PSA intake and grading: their quoted turnaround (varies by service level)
Shipping back to UK: 7 to 14 days
UK customs processing (inbound): 1 to 7 days
Local delivery: 1 to 3 days
Even on PSA's faster services, UK collectors should expect a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks end to end. On regular or economy services, 3 to 5 months is common.
Grading companies experience surges in volume around certain times. New set releases, holiday periods, and market booms all increase submission volumes. If your cards arrive during a busy period, expect delays beyond the quoted turnaround.
Large bulk submissions also take longer simply because there are more cards to grade. If you submit 50 cards on an economy service, it'll likely take the full quoted time or slightly longer.
Most grading companies provide a submission tracking page where you can check the status of your order. Status updates typically include: received, in queue, grading in progress, quality check, shipping. If your submission hasn't moved for a while, it's usually stuck in the queue waiting to be picked up, which is normal during busy periods.
